Check It Out – Aldergrove Regional Park Astronomy Event – Saturday, Aug. 8, 8 – 11pm

Because a waning moon will bring dark night skies at the peak of meteor shower activity, this is a great year to see the annual Perseid meteor showers. And a great place to catch all the action is Aldergrove Regional Park, where there’s activities, astronomers, and overnight camping!

Gaze at the sky through telescopes. Meet astronomers from Science World and the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. Walk lantern-lit trails, enjoy crafts, activities, music and entertainment.  Plus, you can even camp overnight!

The Meteor Shower Watch and Walk is a great family activity with something to interest star-gazers of every age. With a waning moon on the night of the event, the dark skies over Aldergrove will be showcasing as many as 75 shooting stars per hour.

This year, Aldergrove Elks Lodge #66 will provide an evening concession with coffee, hot chocolate and snacks.  In addition, campers can enjoy a Sunday morning breakfast (cash only). Proceeds support BC Elks Association and Aldergrove community initiatives.

This event runs rain or shine, Saturday, August 8 from 8 – 11 pm. Campers must arrive between 5 and 8 pm to register. Meet at the Aldergrove Bowl entrance on Lefeuvre Road, Abbotsford. Cost is $2 per person (cash only). Visit the event web page for camping guidelines, fire restrictions, and additional information:
